Motivation & Management
The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and
behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social
interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
Belief
Statement: Classroom
management is a very important part of teaching. As a teacher I must create an
environment that is safe and open, an environment that can increase learning.
As a teacher I must also find ways to motivate students to want to learn in a
positive way. I believe that teachers need to find intrinsic motivation for
students. This can be more difficult to find each students motivation.
Artifact
1: Opening day
questionnaire
Reflection:
This is a
questionnaire which will be given to students on the first day of class as a
way to get to know them and more fully understand their interests and potential
strengths. Through this questionnaire I hope to be able to show how much I care
about my students and help gain respect for me and the students in the class,
which are keys in maintaining management in the classroom. There are also
questions asking about classroom rules. By having students decide the class rules
they are more likely to follow them. This questionnaire has not been
implemented but from my experiences it is better to get any troubles, or
potential problems in the open at the beginning of the semester. It is also, in
most cases, easier for students to express themselves in a short survey rather
than in person when problems have arisen.
