The teacher plans instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter,
students, the community, and curriculum goals.
Belief
Statement: Planning
is important in order to be a more effective teacher. You cannot just go on the
‘fly’ and expect to get a positive response from the students (they will know).
As planning goes, it is also important to be flexible in the time frames planned.
Each class is different in their interests and needs. As I plan my units I must
recognize what can be cut or what can be expanded without losing the
essentials.
Artifact
1: Dev. Psych. Unit plan.
Reflection:
In this
developmental psychology unit plan I have outlined each lesson that needs to be
covered in the unit, with corresponding description and lesson objectives. This
is an excellent tool to plan out curriculum. It includes the types of
assessments that are being used each day along with a tentative time frame for
the lesson to take.
As a pre-service
teacher I have not implemented this unit or unit plan in a classroom. On the
other hand, I do intend to use something like this in my long term planning and
setting up of my curriculum. The only disadvantage to this type of planning is
that it is not detailed and must be more solidified in the days prior to the
lesson.
